Learn More About Willingboro, NJ
Willingboro Township is one of the original nine divisions of Burlington County and dates back to 1688 when it was known as Wellingborrow. During the 1950s and 1960s, Willingboro was the location for a massive residential development by Abraham Levitt & Sons, the third largest Levittown development.
The first Levittown homes were sold in June 1958, at which time the community was already known as Levittown, New Jersey. That year, the township’s name was officially changed from the original Willingboro to “Levittown Township”, but it changed back to Willingboro in 1963.
Willingboro is divided into several sections, with each section’s street names beginning with the same letter as that section. For example, streets in Pennypacker Park all begin with the letter P. As such, the township is known for its very stable residential neighborhoods and lots of beautiful parks are to be found within this community.
Willingboro has good schools, and also boasts quite a few athletic superstars, among them, Carl Lewis, perhaps this country’s most celebrated track-and-field star of all-time.
