Mount Holly Township is the county seat of Burlington County and is an eastern suburb of Philadelphia.
Mount Holly dates back to the colonial era, with the first European settlement built in 1677. The first settlers to this area constructed a dam on the Rancocas Creek to power a rist and saw mill. The mills attracted many settlers to the area.
Mount Holly was also an important site in 1776, with 3,000 American Revolutionary troops once stationed there. Indeed, the Battle of Iron Works, also known as the Battle of Mount Holly, helped turn the tide for George Washington and his troops.
Mount Holly is popular today for its blend of history and modern amenities. The main county government officers are there, as well as a downtown area that offers quite a few shopping and dining options.
